History

In 1986, seven women in the community who wished to celebrate the passing of an age, began the Castleberry Strawberry Festival committee as a non-profit organization. They petitioned the Governor to recognize the town of Castleberry as the Strawberry Capitol of Alabama.

The Strawberry Capital of Alabama

After listening to the history of the community, the Governor proclaimed Castleberry as the Strawberry Capitol of Alabama. Each year we celebrate the proclamation with a festival, with this year marking 36 years since that establishment. The festival is held on the 3rd Saturday of April and draws an attendance of around 5,000 people. All money raised by the community is put back into the community.

As with every year, our goal is to bring top entertainment to our festival at no admission charge to the public. If you would like to donate to this year’s festival, please use the form below, or send all donations to the festival address by April 1, 2022.
